With lots of effort from an alp hut to an Alpine hotel
Alpenhotel Ratsberg celebrates its 50th anniversary
The Alpenhotel Ratsberg in Toblach celebrated recently a milestone birthday. Many regular guests, friends and representatives of politics and economy attended the festivity. Present was also the mayor of Toblach Guido Bocher and the pastor Hermann Tasser, who gave his blessing for many more successful years. At the celebration was made a brief historical review with traditional dishes and music. At the end there was a fund raiser for the Vinzenzgemeinschaft Toblach.
Today the Hotel is managed by Wolfgang Stauder and his mother Anny. Also his wife Sonja assists actively. The hotel has 29 rooms with 58 beds and about 2000 guests from all over the world per year.
The familiy Stauder has planned a lot for the future. Different alteration work will be done to ameliorate the quality of the hotel. In spring there will be built a meditation-track above the hotel. Different events shall advice more locals of the beautiful place of excursions. Part of the hotel is also a leisure facility with tennis court, bocce lane and a sunbathing and barbecue area.
In the course of the festival, today's owner of the hotel Wolfgang Stauder, looked back on 50 years Alpenhotel Ratsberg. 50 years ago his grandparents Ida and Josef Stauder built the first wooden hut on the Ratsberg, which marked the beginning of the present-day hotel. Then there was no chairlift or street that led to the Ratsberg. The lift which was later built, was one of the first in the Hochpustertal. Before the street was built in 1971 the guests were brought to the hotel via chairlift.
The construction of the hotel was exhausting and went on bit by bit and mostly with tractors. Thanks to the parents of Wolfgang, Heinrich and Anny, from 4 rooms with 8 beds and communal toilets evolved an appealing and comfortable hotel with modern facilities and wellness area. As usual in the hotel business, several modifications were made in 1962, 1967, 1975, 1989, 1996, 2002 and 2006. The swimming pool was one of the first indoor swimming pools on an altitude of 1650 metres in Southtyrol. Significantly involved at the different renovations of the hotel was Heinrich Stauder, who sadly died in 2005. He had been mayor of Toblach for 10 years, and had held different voluntary offices. He was awarded the Medal of Merit in Gold of the Land Tyrol and the Medal of Merit in Gold of the village Toblach. |
